Instructions for basic corner to corner
FIRST BLOCK/ROW: with yellow, chain 6, DC in 4th chain from hook and next 2 chains.
SECOND ROW: Turn, chain 6, dc in 4th chain from hook and next 2 chains. sl st in next ch 3 space, ch 3, 3 dc in same space. Follow chart for color changes.
THIRD ROW: Work as second row across to the end.
DECREASE ROW: Turn, sl st in first 3 dc, sl st in next ch 3 space, ch 3, 3 dc in same space. Work across, end with sl st in last ch 3 space.
Corner to corner is a quick, fun stitch, but working with color changes can be challenging. I frequently end up with multiple yarn balls and a huge mess if I'm not careful.
If you are new to C2C, graph patterns, or just need a refersher, Make & Do Crew provides an excellent tutorial.
ROUND 1: Do not fasten off after final C2C block. Continue with blue from the corner. Ch 1, 3 sc in same (corner) stitch. Sc evenly across each side – 1 sc in the top of each dc (3 in a row) and 2 sc in the side of each dc or ch 3 space – with 3 sc in each corner. Join to first sc with sl st. Approx. 1158 sc. Fasten off.
ROUND 2: Join gold in any sc with an sl st. Ch 1, sc in same stitch, sc in next 2. Ch 3, turn work and sl st in first sc. Ch 1 and turn work again, 7 dc in the ch 3 space just made. Sc in each of next 3 stiches on previous round. *Ch 3, turn work and sl st around post of last dc made. Ch 1 and turn work again. 7 dc in the ch 3 space just made. Sc in each of the next 3 stitches on previous round. Repeat from * around. When you get back to the beginning, slip stitch to the front of the first shell made to complete pattern.
